VILLANOVA COLLEGE - COORPAROO

Villanova College is a thriving school community conducted by the Order. The College which is situated in Coorparoo (Brisbane) is a boys school with classes from Year 5 to Year 12. Today there are over 1,150 students enrolled at the College and well over 100 staff. As an Augustinian school Villanova seeks to provide a well-rounded education in which Christian values underpin the quest for excellence in the various disciplines. The College motto Vincit Veritas (Truth conquers) echo the words of Augustine Nothing conquers except truth (Sermon 358). The College's patron is the 16th century Spanish Augustinian bishop Thomas of Villanova who is the Order's patron of studies.

crestThe College's foundation in 1948 marked the move of the Order in Australia to a specific ministry of education. This first foundation was on a property called Whinstanes at Hamilton (Brisbane). Five Augustinians comprised the first teaching staff of the College under the inspirational leadership of Fr R B (Ben) O'Donnell OSA. The College moved to its present site in 1954 and has grown to be a renowned and much esteemed school community. The College is celebrating its sixteieth anniversary in 2008.

The present Principal of the College is Augustinian Fr Michael Morahan OSA and a College Council is responsible for the governance of the College. As with other Augustinians ministries the ministry at the College is a partnership between the Augustinians, members of staff and the wider College community.
