As well as ministries that Augustinians take on as a community some of the Augustinians have been entrusted with specialized ministries.

HIV/AIDS Ministry

Senan Ward, OSA

Since the beginning of 2002, Senan Ward, OSA, has been responsible for the pastoral care of people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Western Sydney. Employed by the diocese of Parramatta, he reports to Centacare and occupies office space in Victoria Road with the other diocesan ministries. Six years as director of Catholic AIDS Ministry in Melbourne have equipped Senan well for his current role. An alarming increase in the incidence of HIV infection in the past two years has driven one of Senan's primary concerns, viz. education in HIV/AIDS issues in Catholic high schools.
