One charity fulfills everything

Listen to the apostle: The fullness of the law, he says, is charity. He didn't send you off to carry out many things, not even ten, not even two; one charity fulfills everything. However, this charity is twofold: toward God, and toward your neighbor. Toward God, how much? With the whole. The whole what? I mean, not the whole ear, and nose, and hand, and foot. He can be loved with the whole of what? With the whole heart, with the whole soul, with the whole mind; with the whole of what is alive in you, you shall love the fountain of life. So if I have to love God with the whole of what is alive in me, what will I leave myself to love my neighbor with? You see, when you were instructed about loving your neighbor, you weren't told "with the whole heart, and the whole soul, and the whole mind," but as yourself. God with the whole of you, because he is better than you are; your neighbor as yourself, because he is the same as you are yourself.

1. The Olympic Games takes place in Sydney 15-30 September and the city will be in holiday mode! Augustinian parishes in Sydney and Augustinian Friends are involved in hosting visitors. Come and share the Olympic Spirit with the parishioners of Holy Spirit Parish, St Clair. Augustinian Friends will provide and serve a hot evening meal for a cost of $5 per person after 6 pm Sunday Night Mass on September 17.
