AUGUSTINIAN BULLETIN BOARD - February 2002
Let God be your hope
The visible things are delightful, they're beautiful, they're good;
seek the one who made them, he it is that is your hope. He it is that
is now your hope, he it is that will later on be the reality you will
possess; your hope while you believe, your possession when you see.
Say to him, You are my hope; because you believe, you don't yet see.
He is being promised you, you don't yet have him in your grasp. As long
as you are in the body, you are wandering in exile away from the Lord;
you are on the road, you haven't yet reached home. The ruler and founder
of the home country has become the road, to lead you there. So say to
him now, You are my hope. What later on? My portion in the land of the
living. What is now your hope will later on be your portion. Let him
be your hope in the land of the dying, and he will be your portion in
the land of the living.

- In January, the Korean Delegation
of the Order celebrated its Triennial Assembly
at which plans for the next three-year period are set out. As well
as the solemnly professed Augustinians living in Korea, others who
were members included Fr Robert Prevost osa (Prior General)who presided,
as well as Fr Pat Fahey osa (Provincial, Australia) and Fr Richard
Pido osa (Provincial, Cebu, Philippines). Fr Arlon Vergara osa (Cebu
Province) has been elected the new Superior of the Delegation. Augustinian
life in Korea continues to thrive and is a great tribute to the grace
of God, the efforts of Augustinian missionaries from Australia, Philippines
and, previously England/Scotland as well as the financial support
of many friends of the Order.

affiliated to the Order, together with the Augustinian Superiors of

centre at Mulgoa and is for young adults aged 16 to 25.

AUGUSTINIAN CENTRE FOR SPIRITUALITY
PROGRAM 2002
FIVE-WEEK COURSES (7.30-9.00; $75)
PRAYER DAYS (9.45-3.00;
$15) Bring own lunch; refreshments provided.
- DAY OF REST IN PRAYER (Wed 1 May):
All need peace and assurance in the face of life's stresses, tensions
and conflicts. Saint Augustine's "Our hearts are restless until
they rest in You" will be the focus of the day. Experience guidance
in healing, inner stillness and closeness with God.
- PRAYING OUT OF OUR FEELINGS (Wed 4 Sept):
To talk about prayer without feelings is to limit our soul
and reduce prayer to something arid. And yet perhaps we often do!
Our feelings lead us to God, and to see the God around us whom we
have yet to come to love. A day focused on prayer through feelings.
- ST AUGUSTINE'S FIRST MOVEMENT OF PRAYER
(Tues 15 act): moving OUT to greet Christ in Word (scripture),
relationships and our experience of creation.
- ST AUGUSTINE'S SECOND MOVEMENT OF PRAYER
(Tues 29 Oct): going WITHIN oneself discover Christ as
teacher of the heart. Here to be drawn away from loneliness to solitude
with none of him.
- ST AUGUSTINE'S THIRD MOVEMENT OF PRAYER:
(Tues 19 Nov): moving UPWARDS into communion where words
are inadequate and all illusions gives way. Here to sense the wonder
of a deep and gifted relationship with Christ.
- "Life with Augustine",
a course in his spirit and guidance for daily living. This excellent
programme compiled by Edmond Maher is a self study adult education
programme which provides a means by which participants can come to
know more about Augustine, the times in which he lived, the Scriptures
that taught him, the life inspired by him and its relevance to us
today.
