AUGUSTINIAN BULLETIN BOARD - May 2002
What is Peace?
What is peace? Listen to the apostle ----- he was talking about Christ:
He is our peace, who has made both into one. So peace is Christ.
Where did it go? He was crucified and buried, he rose from the dead,
he ascended into heaven. There you have where peace went. “How am
I to follow it?” Lift up your heart. Listen how you should follow; every
day you hear it briefly when you are told Lift up your heart.
Think about it more deeply, and there you are, following. Listen also,
how ever, more widely, in order to follow true peace, your peace, the
peace which for your sake endured war, the peace which while enduring
war for your sake prayed for the enemies of peace, and said as it hung
there, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
It was war, and peace was flowing from the cross. It was flowing, but
what about afterwards? He ascended into heaven. Seek peace ----- and
how are you to follow? Listen to the apostle: It you have risen with
Christ, seek the things that are above where Christ is, seated at God’s
right hand; savor the things that are above, not those that are on earth.
For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ
appears, your life, then you too will appear with him in glory.
There you have the good days; let us long for them, let us live for
them, let us pray for them, for them let us give alms.
Sermon 25, 7
Congratulations to Fr Patrick Fahey osa

Augustinians in Australia for another four year term (2002-2006).
Fr Pat’s next term formally begins with the Provincial
Chapter of the Order to be held 28

Fr Pat and the Province as it prepares for the Chapter at which the Augustinians
in Australia will discuss directions for their life and ministry over
the next four years.
Fr Brian Buckley osa, one of the
three Australian Augustinians who are working in Korea, is currently in
Australia for holidays and a sabbatical. We welcome Brian back among us
for the next few months.
Cathedrals Week in Brisbane - Cathedrals
Week from 18th to 26th May, is an annual festival of arts and spirituality
when the cathedrals and city churches open their doors for ecumenical
celebration of heritage and culture. The many events will include an indigenous
Spirituality Forum on the 23rd of May at Ann St Church of Christ at 7.30
pm. Fr Rod Cameron osa has been asked to be one of the speakers. On the
evening the church will house an exhibition of Indigenous artefacts and
paintings.
Feast of St Anthony, Dimbulah - The
celebration of the Feast of St Anthony, patron of the Dimbulah Parish,
dates back to the 1960’s when there was a real need for a new church as
the then small church, now situated in Chillagoe, became too small for
the community and Mass and other liturgical functions were held in classrooms
in St Anthony’s School. Today the Feast remains an important celebration
on our parish calendar.
The Feast of St Anthony is traditionally held on the second Sunday in
June. This year it will be held on Sunday 9 June. Mass will be at 3.00pm
with Dimbulah Parish Priest, Fr Robert Greenup osa presiding, followed
by a short procession with the statue of St Anthony being carried by the
Aplini around the school oval.
A barbecue, refreshments and Pesca will be held in the school grounds.
Everyone is welcome to attend. For further details please ring the Parish
Office on 07 4092 3690.

DAY OF REST IN PRAYER (Wed 1 May):
all need peace and assurance in the face of life’s stresses, tensions
and conflicts. Saint Augustine’s “Our hearts are restless until they rest
in You” will be the focus of the day. Experience guidance in healing,
inner stillness and closeness with God.
PRAYING OUT OF OUR FEELINGS (Wed 4 Sept):
to talk about prayer without feelings is to limit our soul and reduce
prayer to something arid. And yet perhaps we often do! Our feelings lead
us to God, and to see the God around us whom we have yet to come to love.
A day focused on prayer through feelings.
ST AUGUSTINE’S FIRST MOVEMENT OF PRAYER (Tues
15 Oct): moving OUT to greet Christ in Word (scripture),
relationships and our experience of creation.
ST AUGUSTINE’S SECOND MOVEMENT OFPRAYER (Tues
29 Oct): going WITHIN oneself to discover Christ as
teacher of the heart. Here to be drawn away from loneliness to solitude
with none but Him.
ST AUGUSTINE’S THIRD MOVEMENT OF PRAYER: (Tues
19 Nov): moving UPWARDS into communion where words are
inadequate and all illusion gives way. Here to sense the wonder of a deep
and gifted relationship with Christ.
