Mid-Chapter 2000 On July 2nd , the Province gathered at the Riverglenn Conference Centre, Indooroopilly, Queensland for the Mid-Chapter of the 1998-2002 Provincial term. Although a challenging time for all, the mix of intense discussion, frank exchange of views, prayer, community, and convenient facilities helped to make it a productive and fruitful period. The facilitation of the Mid-Chapter by Paul Bullen was superb. It is clear that in Paul we had a facilitator of exceptional ability. He was able to read the mood of the plenary sessions, knowing what we were capable of at that particular time and gently urging us accordingly. His detached manner allowed him to facilitate objectively. From the evaluations, it is evident that the Chapter members unanimously appreciated his contribution. Prepared by the community of the Province Spirituality Centre, the jubilee themes were prayerfully presented with appropriate scripture readings and reflections. The Camira community prepared the Monday eucharist, and Brendan Quirke led us in a celebration of the Second Rite of Reconciliation. On the Thursday evening, the Jubilee Mass celebrated not only the Jubilee theme, but also the Province jubilarians for the year 2000, Bernie Connolly (presider), Rod Cameron, Maurice O'Connor, Paul Dempsey, Peter Hayes, Jim Bolton, Joe Walsh, Laurie Mooney and Ralph Cameron. This was followed by the Jubilee dinner in which the Jubilarians were toasted. Concluding at lunch on Friday, the Chapter was a graced period in our life as a Province. In the name of the Assembly, the Provincial, Pat Fahey, thanked God for the presence of the Spirit among us during that time, and commended all who worked to make the Chapter such a memorable occasion.
Augustine and Monica at Ostia ...Higher still we mounted by inward thought and wondering discourse on your works, and we arrived at the summit of our own minds; and this too we transcended, to touch that land of never-failing plenty where you pasture Israel for ever with the food of truth".
