SAINTS WELCOMES NEW PRINCIPAL
With the school recently posting some outstanding HSC results as well as construction beginning soon on a new multi-purpose hall, Mr. Cleary says he's making the most of the enthusiasm around the school. "It's been a fantastic start. This school has so much to offer boys and their parents and the community and I'm looking forward to seeing it go from strength to strength." Mr. Cleary has arrived at Saints from St Edmund's in Canberra - a boy's school renowned for its rugby strength.
With over 18 years experience in educating boys, Mr. Cleary brings with him clear beliefs about what boys need in order to fulfill their potential. "I believe that boys need a strong sense of belonging and of connectedness to a vision of the future, where they themselves make a worthwhile and active contribution. Boys want to be engaged in the learning process so that they are not just passive recipients to a font of knowledge but participants in experiences steeped in ritual and healthy adult relationships." "I also believe that the Augustinian ethos provides opportunities for a unique education in life and faith, as a community who share a 'need for others to be ourselves'. It is in this reality that Augustine challenges the educational community to be leaders in the formation of people for people."
Augustine in search of God - and himself "Where was I, when I sought you? You were before me, but I had departed even from myself and I did not find myself, and how much less you!" Confessions Book 5: Chapter 2
